The wait is over, I present to you the winner of the prestigious Germany press test (ADAC)……. Falken Azenis FK510.
To be honest, I am very surprised by the results. Even though Sumitomo ranks currently as the 5th largest tire manufacturer, few would have thought that they stand a chance of winning the test. The overall performance balance of this tire was the key in winning this test. As the tires are sold in Malaysia let’s have a quick look at the highlights of this tire.
Table of Contents
Wet braking
Falken Azenis FK510 came in 3rd with a stopping distance of 33.4m from 80-0 km/h. The Michelin Primacy 4 which was known for its outstanding wet braking came in just one spot behind Falken. Hence we know that this tire means business on wet surfaces 🙂
Dry Performance
Falken Azenis FK510 performed quite well on dry roads scoring a respectful 1.9 points. Apart from Michelin Primacy 4, Dunlop sport maxx RT2 and Giti premium H1, Falken Azenis FK510 managed to outperformed the rest of the field.
Price
As this tire is not sold online, the best reference would be looking how the prices differs from some known tires in other region. From what we have looked at, it should be around 30% less than Michelin Primacy 4 which we think is quite an attractive offer.
Summary
Strength: Good balance in wet and dry criteria
Weakness: Rolling resistance.
Very good overall balance tire, definitely worth a try. Comes in 17″- 21″
