The graph below shows the comparison between Michelin Primacy MXM4 vs Continental ProContact RX based on the relevant performance category. The Michelin Primacy MXM4 tire was set as a reference hence at the 100% mark.
It’s important to note that for both tires do not have the elusive 3 peak mountain certification but its rated as an all season tire. In dry braking from 100-0 km/h (62-0 mph), the Michelin Primacy MXM4 stops 0.27 meters (0.9 feet) shorter than the Continental ProContact RX, giving it a slight edge in stopping power. In the dry slalom test, the Primacy MXM4 is 0.26 seconds faster, making it more responsive in quick directional changes. For dry handling, the Primacy MXM4 maintains an average speed of 69.49 km/h (43.2 mph), which is 0.9 km/h (0.6 mph) faster than the ProContact RX, allowing for a slightly more confident and stable cornering experience.
Both are OE tires, meaning dry performance—especially dry handling—is a big focus. It’s no surprise to see them this close in performance.

In terms of tread depth, the Primacy MXM4 starts at 9.5/32″ (7.54 mm), while the ProContact RX begins at 9/32″ (7.14 mm), meaning the Michelin has 0.5/32″ (0.4 mm) more rubber to wear down.
Additionally, the Primacy MXM4 has a higher traction rating (AA vs. A), which was evident in the wet braking test as it provides better grip in wet conditions, while both share the same A-rated temperature resistance.
