Results below were taken from the 2024 Auto Bild Summer independent Tire Test which includes 21 top tires in the market. The graph below shows the comparison between Michelin Primacy 4+ vs Kleber Dynaxer HP4 based on the relevant performance category. The Michelin Primacy 4+ was set as a reference hence at the 100% mark.

Wet

When comparing the wet performance of the Michelin Primacy 4+ and the Kleber Dynaxer HP4, the Michelin tire has the edge. In wet braking, the Primacy 4+ stops in 43.3 meters, while the Dynaxer HP4 takes 45 meters, showing a 1.7-meter advantage for the Michelin. During wet handling, the Michelin achieves an average speed of 74.5 km/h, compared to the Kleber’s 73.6 km/h, indicating a slight edge in handling capabilities.

In terms of straight aquaplaning resistance, the Primacy 4+ starts slipping at 85.2 km/h, whereas the Dynaxer HP4 begins at 82.8 km/h, giving the Michelin a 2.4 km/h advantage. Although the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 falls within an acceptable range, the differences highlight the superior performance of its more premium sibling, the Michelin Primacy 4+.

Dry

When comparing the dry performance of the Michelin Primacy 4+ and the Kleber Dynaxer HP4, the Michelin tire again shows superior results. In dry braking, the Primacy 4+ stops in 36.3 meters, while the Dynaxer HP4 takes 37.4 meters, giving the Michelin a 1.1-meter advantage. For dry handling, the Michelin achieves an average speed of 115.1 km/h, compared to the Kleber’s 114.4 km/h, indicating a slight edge for the Primacy 4+. Despite the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 staying within striking distance of its Michelin counterpart, the differences highlight the superior dry performance of the Michelin Primacy 4+.

Mileage

When comparing the wear performances of the Michelin Primacy 4+ and the Kleber Dynaxer HP4, the Michelin tire lasts significantly longer, with a lifespan of 38,950 km compared to the Kleber’s 25,350 km.

To understand the cost efficiency, we calculate the cost per 100 km. For the Primacy 4+, with a price of €101 for the size 205/55R16, the cost is approximately €0.26 per 100 km. The Dynaxer HP4, priced at €63, costs around €0.25 per 100 km. Despite the Primacy 4+ having a longer lifespan, the cost per 100 km for both tires is roughly the same, demonstrating that Kleber, while more affordable, maintains a comparable cost efficiency to its Michelin counterpart.

Noise

When comparing the exterior noise performances of the Michelin Primacy 4+ and the Kleber Dynaxer HP4, the Michelin tire is slightly quieter at 72.7 dB compared to the Kleber’s 72.9 dB. This 0.2 dB difference indicates that the Primacy 4+ has a marginally better noise performance, though both tires are quite similar in this aspect.

Rolling Resistance

As a tire expert, I can conclude that the Kleber Dynaxer HP4 consistently performs within close range of its sibling, the Michelin Primacy 4+. While the Michelin offers superior performance in wet and dry braking, handling, and slightly better noise levels, the Kleber maintains impressive performance for its price. The cost per kilometer is roughly the same for both tires, with the Dynaxer HP4 providing a lower entry point to own a Michelin-associated brand. This value differentiation makes the Dynaxer HP4 a compelling budget-friendly alternative, offering excellent cost efficiency while upholding high standards.
