Results below were taken from the 2024 ADAC All Season Test. There were 16 tires tested fully this time around which. The graph below shows the comparison between Michelin CrossClimate 2 vs Toyo Celsius AS2 based on the relevant performance category. The Michelin CrossClimate 2 was set as a reference hence at the 100% mark.

Wet
In wet conditions, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 outperforms the Toyo Celsius AS2. The CrossClimate 2 has a shorter wet braking distance, stopping at 34.8 meters compared to the Celsius AS2’s 36.4 meters, making a difference of 1.6 meters. When it comes to straight aquaplaning resistance, the CrossClimate 2 also excels, with a slipping speed of 81 km/h, whereas the Celsius AS2 begins to slip at 78.4 km/h.

Snow
In snow performance, which is as crucial as wet performance for all-season tires, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 again has the edge over the Toyo Celsius AS2. The CrossClimate 2 stops in 11.1 meters during snow braking, compared to 11.7 meters for the Celsius AS2, making a difference of 0.6 meters. Additionally, the CrossClimate 2 shows superior snow traction with a pulling force of 225.5 Newtons, while the Celsius AS2 only achieves 191.4 Newtons.

Ice
In ice braking performance, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 demonstrates a clear advantage over the Toyo Celsius AS2. The CrossClimate 2 stops at 19.8 meters, whereas the Celsius AS2 takes 21.2 meters to come to a halt, resulting in a difference of 1.4 meters.

In terms of mileage performance, the Toyo Celsius AS2 outlasts the Michelin CrossClimate 2. The Celsius AS2 offers a higher mileage of 50,200 kilometers, compared to the CrossClimate 2’s 44,000 kilometers, thanks to its greater tread depth. However, this comes at a cost, as the Celsius AS2 has a higher abrasion rate of 59 mg/km/t, indicating more wear per kilometer, compared to the CrossClimate 2’s 52 mg/km/t.
