Wet
We often expect OE tires to underperform in wet conditions as their main focus is usually on dry performance and rolling resistance. However, the Continental ProContact RX (T1) proves us wrong. In wet braking, the Hankook iON evo AS takes 104.60 feet to stop from 50 mph, while the Continental ProContact RX (T1) outperforms it, stopping in just 101.00 feet—a difference of 3.60 feet.
In wet handling, the Hankook iON evo AS completes a lap in 31.91 seconds, whereas the Continental ProContact RX (T1) again shows its superiority by finishing in 30.94 seconds, nearly a full second faster. This performance highlights the unexpected wet condition prowess of the Continental ProContact RX (T1) over the Hankook iON evo AS.
iON evo AS:
During wet testing, the steering felt lighter than on dry roads but still maintained accuracy and precision. It was crucial to avoid combining braking or acceleration with turning to prevent the car from sliding or losing control, which could be risky for unprepared drivers in emergencies. The reduced traction also meant that braking needed to be planned earlier, leaving less room for mistakes.

ProContact RX (T1):
In wet conditions, the tire maintained the precise and responsive steering experienced during dry road rides. The demanding corners boosted confidence in its authoritative handling, though overconfidence could cause the rear to lose traction if drivers weren’t cautious when accelerating out of corners. Braking performance was strong and well-aligned with the tire’s grip.
