Results below were taken from the Tire Rack’s “Extreme Performance Summer – 2025” Test. A total of 7 tires were tested this time around in Tire Rack’s own proving ground. The graph below shows the comparison between Bridgestone Potenza RE 71RS vs Vitour Tempesta P1 based on the relevant performance category. The Bridgestone Potenza RE 71RS was set as a reference hence at the 100% mark. Note that for subjective evaluation, we equate 1 point as 5%. In dry handling, the Bridgestone laps 0.26 seconds quicker at 99.38 s compared to 99.64 s, again a 0% difference. Over a long run, the Bridgestone remains 0.30 seconds faster, which also rounds down to 0%. Subjectively, both score 8.75 points, meaning no difference at all.
In short, this is a dead-even battle on paper — braking, pace, consistency, and feel are virtually identical. At this level, the stopwatch won’t pick a clear winner — the driver will.

Wet
Between the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS and the Vitour Tempesta P1, the wet gap is no longer small — it’s decisive.
In wet braking, the Bridgestone stops 6.7 meters shorter at 47.5 m versus 54.2 m for the Vitour, a 12% advantage. In wet handling, the Bridgestone laps 1.39 seconds quicker at 31.05 s compared to 32.44 s, translating to a 4% lead. Subjectively, the Bridgestone scores 2 points higher at 8 versus 6, a clear 10% difference in driver confidence and control.
Put simply, once the track gets wet, the RE-71RS is in a different league — shorter stopping distances, faster laps, and far higher confidence, while the Tempesta P1 clearly struggles to keep up.

Noise/Comfort/Ride Quality
In subjective comfort, the Vitour scores 0.25 points higher at 6.0 versus 5.75, a 1% advantage. In subjective noise, the gap is larger, with the Vitour scoring 0.75 points higher at 6.0 compared to 5.25, giving it a 4% advantage.
In short, the Tempesta P1 is noticeably quieter and slightly more comfortable, while the RE-71RS makes its trade-off clear — it sacrifices refinement in pursuit of outright performance.
Tempesta P1 :
- +1% in subjective comfort
- +4% in subjective noise
Mileage
The RE-71RS shows around 1 mm of wear across almost the entire tread, with some 2 mm loss at the leading edges, meaning the tire wears hard but very evenly. The Tempesta P1, on the other hand, shows heavier outboard shoulder wear, with 2 to 2.5 mm loss on the shoulder and about 1 mm on the intermediate ribs, concentrating the wear in specific areas.
In short, the RE-71RS sacrifices tread evenly in pursuit of grip, while the Tempesta P1 preserves the center but pays for it at the shoulders — uniform wear versus localized punishment.
Price
For 275/35R19, the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS is priced at $405, while the Vitour Tempesta P1 comes in at $383. That makes the Tempesta P1 $22 cheaper, or 6% less, giving it a small price edge — though the gap is narrow compared to the performance differences on track.
