Your daily practical choice: Bridgestone Ecopia EP300 (2017)

EP300

Bridgestone’s comfort product line which prides itself on lower rolling resistance, better wet grip and long lasting tread life.

Size range overview:

Should you buy it?

1. Wet braking

Based on the article here, a new Michelin XM2+ is about 15% better in wet braking in comparison to a new EP300. A word of caution here, these numbers were taken from the launch event of Michelin XM2+. Hence the numbers should be taken with a pinch of salt. EP300 won’t beat the XM2+ but it should be highly competitive against other premium competitors.

2. Rolling resistance

An increase of 1.5% (compared to EP200) in mileage per liter of petrol to 11.14 km/liter.

3. Mileage

With a UTQG of 220, the EP300 is not your high mileage tire. In reference to similar products, the Michelin XM2+ is 420 and the Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2 is 320.

3. Price

What EP300 lacks was certainly made up on it’s pricing. A typical 205/55R16 cost about RM 216 which is 30% cheaper than XM2+. The table below is updated automatically weekly. Prices comes from various online sources available to the Malaysian market.

Summary:

Overall the Bridgestone Ecopia EP300 fair quite poorly in wet braking and mileage when compared to Michelin XM2+ and Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2 . It does however comes with a favourable price point. If you are on a tight budget and mileage/wet braking is not your main requirements, this tire would be an ideal choice for your pocket 🙂
