Best all season tires for high mileage: All season tires are the cornerstone of America’s tire industry as a variety of regions do encounter some form of winter conditions. Beside having the requirement to perform in snow conditions, most Americans have a big expectation when it comes to mileage. This is evident for such a huge country like America, most of the places are interconnected through roads and mileage is evidently a strong consideration factor when purchasing a tire.
To get a hint on how well your tire performs in mileage, we usually check the UTQG tread wear values which is mandatory for all summer tires sold in America. Besides that, the mileage warranty given by each tire manufacturer could also help you get a feeling where the tire stands. Unfortunately tire manufacturers have an incentive to input the highest possible rating as the input of both values are not governed by a strict certification process.
Hence in this article we will rank the top all season tires based on real life wear testing figures and also compare them with their listed UTQG tread wear values & mileage warranty given by the respective products. Without further ado, let’s find out who is the king of mileage in the all season category.

Results: Best All Season Tires for High Mileage
All mileage results were taken from Consumer Report’s tire test. The mileage reported here for each respective tire is a comparative estimate from Consumer Report’s vehicle road test completed on a treadwear course in southwest Texas. It is important to note that your actual mileage may vary based on how, what, and where you drive along with other factors but not limited to weather & road texture. So please do not take the absolute values as a hardcoded number but rather as a relative value for comparison purposes.
The table above shows the mileage values for each all season tire sorted from high to low. The graph above is interactive and the mileage and tire product are displayed when you hover your mouse on top of the respective bar.
Which all season tire has the highest mileage ?
It is none other than Michelin’s CrossClimate 2 !
Michelin CrossClimate 2
Michelin CrossClimate 2 has the highest mileage among the other all season contenders with a staggering 85,000 miles which is 10,000 miles ahead of any other competitor in this segment. This is despite having a much lower reported UTQG tread wear value of 640 & also a lower mileage warranty of 60,000 miles only.
Michelin once again shows its innovation by not only revolutionizing the all season segment with its highly successful 3 peak mountain certified CrossClimate in 2015 but having the best wear performing tire in the market. This is evident in Michelin’s DNA to become the de-facto innovation leader in the tire industry.

CrossClimate 2 vs
- Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO
- Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra
- Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack
- Bridgestone WeatherPeak
- Continental PureContact LS
- Continental AllSeasonContact
- Continental Cross Contact LX25
- Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3
- Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive
- Michelin Cross Climate+
- Michelin Defender T+H
- Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4
- Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF2
- Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3
- Vredestein Quatrac Pro
As the saying goes, everyone remembers the winner but nobody remembers the second place finisher. We would like to make a quick shout out to the second highest mileage tire which is Continental’s Pure Contact LS with a respectable mileage of 75,000 miles. The bottom 3 tires include Nokian WRG4, Falken Ziex ZE960 A/S & Sailun Inspire all finished with a 50,000 miles rating. These are the tires you would like to avoid if mileage is your top requirement 🙂
What is the relationship of UTQG tread wear & mileage warranty values in comparison with the actual mileage?
As we mentioned in the start, UTQG tread wear values & mileage warranty can help us get a hint in terms of the tires mileage performance. The graph below outlays the relationship between the 2 visible wear indicators against the real life mileage values.
As the graph would seem complicated at first glance, I would like to guide you step by step what is being shown here. The Y axis on the left shows the real life mileage minus the mileage warranty values given by the manufacturer. For example, CrossClimate 2 had a real life mileage of 85,000 miles & a mileage warranty of only 60,000 miles. Based on the calculation, it has a [real life mileage – mileage warranty] (85,000-60,000 = 25,000 miles). A positive value would mean the product provided a higher value than the mileage warranty while a negative value would mean it did not fulfill its mileage promises.
The Y axis on the right is rather straightforward as it displays the UTQG tread wear values directly. As mentioned early, CrossClimate 2 exceeded expectations by out performing its mileage warranty by 25,000 miles. On the flip side, Sailun Inspire over-promised on its mileage warranty by 20,000 miles 🙁
Another interesting aspect from the graph shows that the UTQG values really do not have a great correlation with actual mileage values. For example Vredestein Quatrac Pro had only a UTQG tread wear value of 400 but still managed to outperform the 700++ products of Sumitomo HTR Enhance LX2 & Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus II. Similar for the 800 UTQG tread wear rated products like both the Yokohama’s Avid Ascend LX & Avid Ascend GT which has the highest UTQG tread wear values but only managed a mid-tier ranking.
Nonetheless, excluding some outlier cases, the lower UTQG tread wear values tend to occupy the bottom ranking while higher UTQG tread wear values tend to occupy the top half of the ranking. However the tolerances are quite huge +- 200 which would render it useless when comparing tires of the same segment.
Summary
We have shown the best all season tires for high mileage ranking in this article with the market leader Michelin CrossClimate 2 owning the top spot with a total mileage of 85,000 miles ! 10/18 tire products did not fulfill its mileage warranty promise while 6 other tires managed to exceed their mileage promises. Enjoy !
