The Wildpeak AT4W comes in with a proven reputation for toughness, wet grip, snow capability, and real-world all-terrain confidence. But the Scorpion XTM AT is not just another mild SUV tire from Pirelli — it is a more serious, rugged all-terrain product aimed directly at the leaders of the category.

So the real question is simple: is Pirelli finally ready to challenge the Falken Wildpeak AT4W?

Results below were taken from the Tyre Review’s “All Terrain Tyres for 2026” Test. A total of 7 tires were tested this time. The graph below shows the comparison between Falken Wildpeak AT4W vs Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT based on the relevant performance category. The Falken Wildpeak AT4W was set as a reference hence at the 100% mark. Note that for subjective evaluation, we equate 1 point as 5%. Hence for example if tire A is graded 7 while tire B is graded 6, A is better than B by 5%.

Wet

The Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT is clearly stronger in the wet compared to the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. It stops 21.7 feet shorter in wet braking, giving it a 19% advantage, and it is 11.19 seconds faster in wet handling, which equals a 9% improvement. It also feels more confident, scoring 1.4 points higher in subjective wet handling for a 7% advantage, while its straight aquaplaning speed is 3.9 mph higher, giving it a 6% edge. Overall, the Pirelli is not just slightly better in the wet — it delivers a clear, consistent advantage across braking, handling, driver confidence, and aquaplaning resistance.

Snow

In snow, the Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT again shows a clear advantage over the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. It stops 9.2 feet shorter in snow braking, giving it a 21% advantage, and it is 1.99 seconds quicker in snow traction, which is a major 38% improvement. Around the snow handling course, the Pirelli is 7.01 seconds faster, giving it a 9% edge, while its subjective snow handling score is 1.0 point higher, equal to a 5% advantage. Overall, the Pirelli looks noticeably stronger in snow, especially in traction, where the gap is big enough to make a real difference in winter driving confidence.

Dirt

In dirt, the Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT is slightly ahead of the Falken Wildpeak AT4W, but the gap is much smaller than in wet or snow. It is 1.13 seconds faster in dirt handling, giving it a 2% advantage, while its subjective dirt handling score is 0.3 points higher, equal to a small 1% edge. Overall, the Pirelli still performs better off-road, but in dirt specifically, both tires are very close, with the Scorpion XTM AT only having a slight advantage in speed and driver confidence.

Dry

In the dry, the Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT again has the edge over the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. It stops 10.1 feet shorter in dry braking, giving it an 8% advantage, which is a meaningful gap for an all-terrain tire. In subjective dry handling, the Pirelli also scores 0.25 points higher, giving it a small 1% edge, so both tires feel very close in dry cornering and steering response. Overall, the Pirelli is clearly better in dry braking, while dry handling feel is almost tied, with only a slight advantage to the Scorpion XTM AT.

Noise/Comfort/Ride Quality

For comfort and noise, the Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT is slightly more refined than the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. It scores 0.5 points higher in subjective comfort, giving it a 2% advantage, and also scores 0.5 points higher in subjective noise, again giving it a 2% edge. In measured noise, the Pirelli is only 0.10 dB quieter, which is basically a 0% difference, so both tires are almost identical in actual cabin noise. Overall, the Pirelli feels a little more comfortable and quieter subjectively, but in measured noise, there is practically no real difference between the two.

Mileage & UTQG ratings

For mileage warranty, the Falken Wildpeak AT4W has the advantage. Since LT sizes do not use UTQG treadwear ratings, the warranty is the cleaner comparison here. The Falken comes with a 65,000-mile warranty, while the Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT comes with a 55,000-mile warranty. That gives the Falken a 10,000-mile advantage, or roughly 18% longer warranty coverage than the Pirelli. So while the Pirelli has shown stronger test performance in wet, snow, dirt, and comfort, the Falken still has the stronger paper advantage when it comes to expected mileage support.

Price

For price, the Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT is only slightly more expensive than the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. In LT 265/70R17, the Falken costs $300, while the Pirelli costs $310, making the Pirelli just $10 more expensive, or about 3% higher in price. At this small gap, the Pirelli looks very competitive because it brings stronger wet, snow, dirt, and comfort results, while the Falken still counters with the longer 65,000-mile warranty versus Pirelli’s 55,000 miles.

Summary

From a tire expert view, Pirelli has made a strong statement with the Scorpion XTM AT. The Falken Wildpeak AT4W still wins on mileage warranty, 65,000 miles vs 55,000 miles, and proven reputation. But the Pirelli performs better in wet, snow, dry braking, dirt, comfort, and noise. For only $10 more, or 3% extra, yes — Pirelli may have outsmarted Falken this time.
