High Mileage All Season Truck Tires

High Mileage All Season Truck Tires

High Mileage All Season Truck Tires: High mileage all-season truck tires are designed for heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles that require tire durability and versatility for all weather conditions. These tires are engineered to provide a long tread life, superior traction, and comfortable ride, making them suitable for a variety of driving applications. Whether you are driving in rain, snow, or on dry roads, high mileage all-season truck tires will ensure a smooth and safe journey for your vehicle.

To get a hint on how well your tire performs in mileage, we usually check the UTQG tread wear values which is mandatory for all summer tires sold in America. Besides that, the mileage warranty given by each tire manufacturer could also help you get a feeling where the tire stands. Unfortunately tire manufacturers have an incentive to input the highest possible rating as the input of both values are not governed by a strict certification process.

Hence in this article we will rank the top high mileage ultra high performance all season tires based on real life wear testing figures and also compare them with their listed UTQG treadwear values & mileage warranty given by the respective products. Without further ado, let’s find out who is the king of mileage in the all season category.

Results: High Mileage All Season Truck Tires

All mileage results were taken from Consumer Reports tire test. The mileage reported here for each respective tire is a comparative estimate from Consumer Report’s vehicle road test completed on a treadwear course in southwest Texas. It is important to note that your actual mileage may vary based on how, what, and where you drive along with other factors but not limited to weather & road texture. So please do not take the absolute values as a hardcoded number but rather as a relative value for comparison purposes.

The table above shows the mileage values for each all season tire sorted from high to low. The graph above is interactive and the mileage and tire product are displayed when you hover your mouse on top of the respective bar.

Which all season truck tire has the highest mileage ?

The top spot goes to ……..

Continental TerrainContact H/T

Continental TerrainContact H/T

Continental TerrainContact H/T has the highest mileage among the other all season truck tire contenders with an amazing 95,000 miles mileage rating. TerrainContact H/T managed to back up its highest UTQG treadwear value of 800 claim by proving they mean business when it comes to mileage. Besides performing extremely well on mileage, TerrainContact H/T also excels in snow & noise making it a top choice for this segment with the highest overall rating of 69/100 as rated by consumer reports.

  • Continental TerrainContact H/T
    • Actual test mileage: 95,000 miles
    • Launch: 2019
    • Press test wins: 1/2
    • Consumer Report score: 69/100 (Rank 1st)
    • Strength: Best mileage in the segment while having extremely good noise & snow traction.

The second place finisher is none other than Michelin’s Defender LTX M/S with also a really high test mileage of 80,000 miles. It also has a really strong noise, rolling resistance & snow performance. Falken Wildpeak H/T HT02 has the honors of finishing last in the ranking with a disappointing 45,000 miles mileage rating. To put this into perspective, 45,00 miles is something you would expect for an ultra high performance (UHP) range and not for an all season truck tire segment ! You should definitely avoid Falken Wildpeak H/T HT02 if mileage is your top requirement 🙂

What is the relationship of UTQG treadwear & mileage warranty values in comparison with the actual mileage?

As we mentioned in the start, UTQG treadwear values & mileage warranty can help us get a hint in terms of the tires mileage performance. The graph below outlays the relationship between the 2 visible wear indicators against the real life mileage values.

As the graph would seem complicated at first glance, I would like to guide you step by step what is being shown here. The Y axis on the left shows the real life mileage minus the mileage warranty values given by the manufacturer. For example, TerrainContact H/T had a real life mileage of 95,000 miles & a mileage warranty of only 70,000 miles. Based on the calculation, it has a [real life mileage – mileage warranty] (95,000-70,000 = 25,000 miles). A positive value would mean the product provided a higher value than the mileage warranty while a negative value would mean it did not fulfill its mileage promises.

The Y axis on the right is rather straightforward as it displays the UTQG treadwear values directly. The excellent TerrainContact H/T exceeded expectations by out performing its mileage warranty by 25,000 miles. On the flip side, Falken Wildpeak H/T HT02 over-promised on its mileage warranty by 25,000 miles 🙁

Another interesting aspect from the graph shows that the UTQG values really do not have a great correlation with actual mileage values. For example Nitto Dura Grappler had only a UTQG treadwear value of 600 but still managed to outperform the 720 products of Nokian Rotiiva HT plus & Kumho Crugen HT51. At the lower end of the spectrum, even Falken Wildpeak H/T HT02 had a 700 UTQG treadwear value which absolutely does not reflect its real life mileage rating.

Summary

We have shown the best high mileage ultra high performance all season tires in this article with Continental TerrainContact H/T being the top performer in terms of mileage with 95,000 miles rating. 7/13 tire products did not fulfill its mileage warranty promise while 6 other tires managed to exceed their mileage promises. We hope this would enable you to make a quick decision on the best high mileage all season truck tires. Enjoy !
