Evolution of Continental’s comfort tire line: CC1 CC5 CC6

Continental tires first foray into the Malaysia market came as the technological partner of Sime Darby tires in 2002. Along the years, Continental’s share of the joint venture grew higher and eventually in 2012 Continental bought out the whole thing. Lets look back at the Continental comfort line history to see hot it evolves over time.

CC1 (2004)

Continental comfort contact 1 came out due to joint venture of Continental and Sime Darby. CC1 was renown to have excellent mileage but extremely poor wet braking.

CC5 (2010)

As they have skipped 4 numbers and introduce directly 5, great things were expected of this tire 🙂 .  CC5 has improved wet grip, while also engineered for lower road noise and better comfort. It came with a 3 block structure in center from CC1 to a 2 block structure for CC5.

CC6 (2016)

After 6 years, Continental launch the CC6. This tire has the unique star shape feature on its pattern which promotes lower noise. According to the chart below, CC6 was greatly improved compare to its predecessor. It has higher mileage while enjoying improvements in every other category. This kind of improvement step on all aspect was never seen before in any other product.

Summary

What started out as a joint venture was slowly matured into a very fine product. The improvements garnet by CC6 shows that Continental was a serious player when it comes to the comfort segment.
