The Cooper s+ vs Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 is a serious showdown in the all-season highway terrain segment. Both tyres target SUV and light-truck drivers who want long mileage, dependable wet and dry grip, and comfortable everyday performance—but they approach the job from very different price points.
Michelin brings its premium reputation and proven Defender formula, while Cooper aims to deliver much of that capability at a more affordable price. So, does paying more for the Defender LTX M/S2 actually get you a better tyre, or is the Endeavor+ the smarter buy? Let’s find out.

Results: Cooper Endeavor+ vs Michelin Defender LTX MS2
Results below were taken from the Tyre Review’s “Best HT All Season Tyres for 2026 Test. A total of 7 tires were tested this time around. The graph below shows the comparison between Cooper Endeavor+ vs Michelin Defender LTX MS2 based on the relevant performance category. The Cooper Endeavor+ was set as a reference hence at the 100% mark. Note that for subjective evaluation, we equate 1 point as 5%. Hence for example if tire A is graded 7 while tire B is graded 6, A is better than B by 5%.

Wet
The Cooper Endeavor+ is stronger in wet braking, stopping 14.2 feet shorter than the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2, giving it a 7% advantage. However, the Michelin is slightly better in wet handling, completing the lap 0.43 seconds faster, which is a 1% advantage, while also scoring 0.3 points higher subjectively, equal to a 1.5% advantage.
In straight-line aquaplaning, the Michelin also has a small edge, resisting aquaplaning at a speed 0.4 mph higher, giving it a 1% advantage. Overall, the Michelin is slightly stronger in wet handling and aquaplaning, but the Cooper’s 7% wet braking advantage is the biggest difference between the two in wet conditions.

Snow
The Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 is stronger across all snow categories, stopping 1.7 feet shorter than the Cooper Endeavor+ in snow braking, giving it a 3% advantage. The biggest difference comes in snow traction, where the Michelin accelerates 0.56 seconds faster, representing a substantial 17% advantage.
The Michelin also completes the snow handling lap 1.52 seconds faster, giving it a 2% advantage, while its subjective snow handling score is 0.5 points higher, equal to a 2.5% advantage. Overall, the Defender LTX M/S2 is the clear snow performer, with its much stronger snow traction standing out as the biggest advantage.

Dry
The Cooper Endeavor+ is stronger in dry braking, stopping 5.7 feet shorter than the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2, giving it a 4% advantage. In dry handling, the two are essentially equal, with the Cooper completing the lap just 0.1 seconds faster, which is effectively a 0% difference.

Noise/Comfort/Ride Quality
The Cooper Endeavor+ has a small advantage in comfort, scoring 0.2 points higher than the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2, equal to about a 1% advantage. It is also noticeably quieter, producing 2.8 dB less noise, which gives it a 4% advantage.

Rolling Resistance
The Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 is clearly stronger in rolling resistance, recording 1.41 N/kN lower than the Cooper Endeavor+, giving it a substantial 20% advantage.

Off-road (Dirt)
The Cooper Endeavor+ is slightly quicker in dirt handling, completing the lap 0.45 seconds faster than the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2, giving it a 1% advantage. However, the Michelin scores 0.3 points higher in subjective dirt handling, equal to a 1.5% advantage.
Overall, the two are very closely matched on dirt, with the Cooper holding a small advantage in outright pace while the Michelin feels slightly better from the driver’s perspective.

Mileage & UTQG ratings
The Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 has the stronger treadwear rating, with a UTQG score of 820 compared with 680 for the Cooper Endeavor+, a difference of 140 points or about 21%. This is also reflected in the mileage warranty: the Cooper is backed for 65,000 miles, while selected Defender LTX M/S2 sizes carry a 75,000-mile warranty, giving the Michelin 10,000 additional miles or about 15% more warranty coverage. Some Michelin sizes carry a 50,000-mile warranty instead.

Summary
From my perspective, the Cooper Endeavor+ is the better value choice, with stronger wet and dry braking, lower noise and a much lower purchase price. It delivers a very balanced highway-terrain package without asking you to pay a premium.
The Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 is the stronger all-rounder for long-term ownership, with much better snow traction, lower rolling resistance and a higher treadwear rating. If you regularly drive in winter conditions or prioritize efficiency and tread life, I would lean toward the Michelin. But at 40% more expensive, the Cooper makes the stronger case for most value-conscious drivers.
