Bridgestone Potenza RE004 vs Michelin Pilot Sport 4: One of the latest tire in the touring segment is the Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE004 which was launch in May 2020. We know from its predecessor RE003, it excels clearly in dry handling performances. From the marketing material, the Potenza Adrenalin RE004 is focus heavily on “providing excellent handling and instantaneous response when taking corners and at straight-line driving.”
As there is no doubt that Potenza Adrenalin RE004 will also provide very strong dry handling , the question remains how about the rest of it performances? While the Potenza Adrenalin RE004 shares 11 tire sizes with Pilot Sport 4, we thought it would be a good idea to compared both of them.

As shown previously with its predecessor RE003, the Potenza Adrenalin RE004 do not perform well in wet braking. It has a label class “C” which is 2 label class down compare to Pilot Sport 4 of “A”. Wet is clearly not the main focus for Potenza Adrenalin RE004.
Rolling Resistance

As both the touring segments focuses on the dry & wet performances, rolling resistance is usually not its main priority. Michelin being technology leader, still managed to have a 1 label class advantage of “C” compared to the “D” from Potenza Adrenalin RE004. The target conflict was clearly well managed by Pilot Sport 4 as it managed to be strong in both rolling resistance & wet braking relative to Potenza Adrenalin RE004

Pilot Sport 4 has a 100 points UTQG wear rating advantage compare to Potenza Adrenalin RE004. It is expected that the Potenza Adrenalin RE004 will not last longer than the Pilot Sport 4.

Summary
Overall, Pilot Sport 4 outshines the Potenza Adrenalin RE004 in all performance categories. The biggest draw back for Pilot Sport 4 comes in terms of the price. However in our humble opinion, Pilot Sport 4 is definitely worth every penny in this comparison!
